In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Attorney Christopher A. Sica and his wife Mariella of Cheshire; his sister, Nancy Coatta, her husband Robert, and his beloved godson Michael Coatta, of Southington. He also leaves several close cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and his dearest friends Robert and Teen Mendillo.
Alan was born in Waterbury on August 29, 1949, he was the son of the late Albert and Edith (Atterrato) Sica. He graduated from Wilby High School in 1967 and obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Southern Connecticut State University.
Alan was a teacher in the City of Waterbury for over 46 years. Most recently he taught History and Civics at the Waterbury Adult Education Program. This was a program he was instrumental in developing in the early 1980’s. In addition to being a classroom teacher, Alan served as the acting Vice-Principal, before his retirement in 2019.
Alan will be vividly remembered for being a wonderful husband and father; providing continued sage advice and guidance to his son. Alan loved to spend time with family, especially summertime Sunday dinners by his pool. He loved to drive his Corvette and was an avid sports fan. He loved watching his Yankees, UCONN basketball and the Boston Celtics. Alan enjoyed the game of golf, playing multiple times per week with his two closest friends. He will also be remembered for his impeccable style and dapper dress.
