He was born in Southington October 20, 1927, the son of the late Alexander G. and Lucy (Picano) DePastino. Alex was a veteran of the U.S Navy serving during WW II. He was a Police officer serving the town of Southington for 38 years, he retired as Captain. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church, a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, Sons of Italy and the Southington Elks Club.
He is survived by his longtime sweetheart Joan Brown of Southington; 4 children, Sandra Stevens and husband Murray of FL, Lucille Coderre of Wallingford, Keith DePastino and wife Carol and David Brown, all of Southington; a step-daughter Lori Rich and husband Keith of Westbrook; 4 sisters, Julia Zarella and Lucy DeGumbia both of Southington, Mary Dymond and Rose Lord both of FL; nine grandchildren, Taylor, Tyson, Joseph, Sherri, Edward, Rochelle, Kevin, Kenny and Michael; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. H was predeceased by a son John A. DePastino and two sisters, Kate Churma and Alice Sartwell.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, 11 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
