

Alice Ann (Diener) Flynn passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2025 at Mulberry Gardens in Plantsville, Connecticut. She was born to the late George and Alice (Quinlan) Diener in Bristol, Connecticut on August 31, 1928 and just celebrated her 97th birthday.
She attended Saint Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Bristol High School in 1946. At the age of 13, she met her future husband, Robert J. “Bob” Flynn at a cousin’s wedding. Bob always said it was love at first sight and they married on September 3, 1951. They shared eight children and 53 beautiful years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 2005.
Alice began her career as a Secretary at the Juvenile Court in Bristol, leaving to raise her family in the early 1950’s. Alice assisted Bob as the proprietor of Flynn Pharmacy until 1976. The two then became Real Estate Brokers, running several successful real estate agencies for many years.
Alice lived a full life, marked by faith, family, and community service. She was a devoted Roman Catholic, who lived her faith with compassion, patience and a humble approach to others. She was a communicant of St. Luke’s Parish in Southington, active in the Catholic Council of Women and the St. Thomas Ladies Guild. Additionally, she was a past president of Bradley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in the Gift Shop until her early 90’s.
Alice enjoyed entertaining, filling her home with joy and casual elegance. She was a fantastic cook and her favorite recipes were shared with many. She enjoyed sewing and needlework and her knitted winter hats were legendary.
As a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Alice will be dearly missed by all who knew her. To cherish her memory, she leaves her children and their spouses, Paul and Eugenia of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Brian and Margaret of Rumney, New Hampshire; Kevin and Jacqueline of Kennebunk, Maine; Robert and Marlene of Loveland, Colorado; Shaun and Julie of Holderness, New Hampshire; Christopher and Cheryl of Raymond, Maine; Colleen of Southington, Connecticut; and Maureen and Edward Lynch of Barnstable, Massachusetts. She also leaves grandchildren Nathan, Kathryn, Mikaela, Lukas, Rory, Ian, Kerigan, Shaun, Rose, Evan, Connor, Liam and Robert and great-grandchildren Jacob, Evelyn, Maxine, Sylvia, Nora, Lucy, Sylvan and Siara.
She was predeceased by her parents Alice and George Diener, her husband Robert J. Flynn and her grandson Peter Lynch.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Mulberry Gardens for providing such a caring community and would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Jan Gordon whose gentle care and unwavering kindness brought comfort and dignity to Alice in her final months.

Calling hours will be held at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 3-6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Aloysius Church Burritt St. in Plantsville on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 9am. All are asked to gather directly at church for Mass.
