

She was the wife of the late Alfred T. Gioia Sr. Born on May 6, 1923 the daughter of the late Joseph and Filomena (Iannucci) Scorpio. Mrs. Gioia was a life long resident of Southington and attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church. She married Alfred T.Gioia Sr. on November 22, 1945. In her early years, Millie worked at Pratt & Whitney during WWII. In later years she helped her husband doing bookkeeping for Al Joy Tire Co. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to travel in early years with their motor home and later years with her husband and sons going to their Vermont cottage. Millie loved snowmobiling, going out to her favorite restaurants and playing cards.
She is survived by her two sons Alfred T. Gioia Jr. and Thomas M. Gioia both of Southington, her grandsons Michael and Matthew, also several nieces and nephews including her special niece and husband Marion and Dr. Victor Wasilauskas. She was predeceased by two brothers Peter and Anthony Scorpio and a sister Mary Gianatti.
The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Assoc. of Central CT and also the Staff at HCC at New Britain General as well as Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Clare Zhou and their staff for there kindness help and excellent care.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
