Born in Waterbury on July 29,1943, he was the only child of the family. A small framed person Artie developed his speed, strength and plenty of talent as a baseball player at Crosby HS. After graduating from the University of CT he lived in Florida before permanently returning to Waterbury a dozen or so years ago. As a contractor in the south he worked for tobacco manufacturing co executives, and built hotels and other commercial buildings. His last project in CT was a large medical facility.
Aside from following sports, telling great stories, reading good books, smoking Marlboro's, sipping vodka, dinner at a great Italian resteraunt, his favorite activity was playing poker. The "Artie squeeze" was his lucky move when he needed to pull a good card. He was a true Italian-American, loved The Godfather movies,Pacchino and DeNiro, and "Chin Dan" to everybody.
Friends and extended family are invited to celebrate Artie?s life on Saturday from 3 to 5 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. Burial will be private. Visit www.dellavecchiafh.com for more information.
