

Barbara (Hichwa) Banville, 66, of Plantsville passed away peacefully on Friday March 14, 2014. She was the wife of the late Gary Banville. Barbara was born on March 17, 1947, daughter of the late Peter and Sophie (Lowicki) Hichwa.
She was an active parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Mary Our Queen Church for the last seven years and was an active volunteer at the French Veteran’s Affairs in Bristol. Barbara was a literary Tudor at the Siena Learning Center in New Britain and a member of the Southington Calendar House. She belonged to several bowling leagues in Plainville and Cheshire and was a dedicated golfer.
Barbara is survived by her sister Patricia Atwater and husband Tom of Bolivia, NC, two nieces and two nephews, Scott Atwater and wife Robin, Cheryl Follert and husband Todd, Brandon Atwater and wife Debra, and Tanya Rose and husband Alex, five grandnieces, a grandnephew, her loving companion Bob Gay of Cheshire, her adopted family Chris Belisle and wife Jennifer of Wolcott and their children Chase and Caden who called Barbara “Grammy”, and her best friend Sandy Waiksnoris of Southington.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Darlene Marie.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 9:45 from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville for a 10:30 Mass. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5-8 pm. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Disabled American Veteran, P.O.
