Beatrice "Rosa" Secondo

Beatrice “Rosa” (Cimmino) Secondo, 95, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Secondo.

Born on October 11, 1930, in Limatola, Italy, Rosa was the daughter of the late Filomeno and Giovanna Cimmino. She immigrated to the United States, where she built a beautiful life rooted in hard work, faith, and family.

Rosa worked many years at the family-owned Popular Restaurant and then retired from Lori Engineering after many dedicated years of service. Known for her warm heart and strong spirit, she found great joy in simple pleasures—crocheting, cooking homemade meals, and tending to her cherished garden each year. A devout Catholic, Rosa was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Thomas Church in Southington.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Specyalski and her husband Robert of Southington, and her stepson, Domenico Secondo, also of Southington. Rosa was a proud grandmother (Cara, Joe, DJ, Tony, Joe, Carmen, Joanne, Rose, Anna, Alfonsina) and great-grandmother, and she also leaves behind a brother in Italy, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, two sisters, and her stepdaughter Maria Marcuccio.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Asciuto, Dr. Kositsawat and to Rosa’s devoted caretakers—Connie, Irene, Umida, Lola, and Anara—as well as her compassionate hospice nurse, Jeff, for the exceptional care and kindness they provided.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Rosa will be laid to rest beside her husband Giuseppe in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4–7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosa will be remembered for her love of family, her enduring faith, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life.
