Benjamin Hamilton Volpe, 89, of Wappingers Falls, NY, beloved husband of the late Joan (Thompson) Volpe, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on December 22, 2025. He was born on July 2, 1936, to the late Antonio and Helen (Williams) Volpe in Peekskill, NY.
Ben was known for his love of family, his passion for football, diving, boxing and all sports alike. He was even asked to box on the professional team for Archie Moore but respectfully declined due to his desire to be with his family first. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged from his service. He then met his beloved wife Joan with whom he eventually married, raised a family, and shared over 65 years with. Joan passed in April of this year but together they shared many cherished decades and a solid devotion to one another through good and bad. He was a long-time employee of IBM. Ben had a passion for fishing and was happiest when dropping a line or walking a stream. He was also an avid Yankees fan and rarely missed a televised game. Ben and Joan had many fond memories of camping trips, traveling to visit family in Delaware and Thanksgiving adventures with cousins.
Ben’s greatest pride and joy was truly his family. He is survived by his children; Daren Volpe Sr. and wife Donna of New Kent, VA; Janine Clarkson and husband Steven of Cheshire; and Kristen Bradley and husband Jeffrey of Plantsville. He was a loving grandfather to Tara Thompson and husband Tommy, Daren Volpe Jr. and wife Becca, Bryn Clarkson, Kyle Bradley, and Jillian Bradley, and a doting great-grandfather to Chloe, Reagan, and Grayson Volpe and Kinsley Thompson. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, close family friends and special neighbors who will remember him fondly.
He was predeceased by his brothers Anthony Volpe, Joseph Volpe and Erwin “Bud” Gibbs and his sisters Mary Harrison and Eleanor Voorhees.
Ben’s family would like to thank Franciscan Home Care & Hospice Care for their kind and compassionate support.
