OBITUARY
Carl J. Anderson
October 16, 1981 – February 5, 2021
Carl Joseph Anderson, 39, of Woodstock, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Friday, February 5, 2021. He was the loving husband of Lindsay (Mattas) Anderson.
Carl was born on October 16, 1981 in Waterbury to loving parents Paul and Trudee (Gardiner) Anderson and spent most of his childhood growing up in Plantsville where he attended school and was involved in sports. His parents enjoyed attending his games and rooting for him from the sidelines. Carl graduated from Southington High School and continued working his way up in the restaurant world.
He spent his entire career dedicated to the food/restaurant industry as a chef, managing restaurants in upstate NY and most recently as a Customer Development Specialist for Gordon Food Service in Massachusetts. Carl was passionate about food and always dreamed of opening his own restaurant. He enjoyed exploring new restaurants with his wife and giving his own critique.
Carl enjoyed fishing with his children, visiting his parents in the keys, and hosting family gatherings and holidays. He loved to cook for his family and friends who couldn’t wait to sit down and enjoy every meal he made. Carl was an avid Redsox and Patriots fan and loved attending games with family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by his children, Kyle and Tess Anderson of Woodstock; his sister, Kelly Anderson of Melbourne Australia; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his brother-in-law, Aaron Mattas and his fiancé Michelle of Bristol; sister-in-law, Alyssa Mattas of Glastonbury; and his father and mother in-law Leonard and Bonnie Mattas.
Services will be held at a later date private to the family. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington has been entrusted with the arrangements. For online condolences and directions please visit www.dellavecchiafhsouthington.com

I was blessed with meeting Carl as we both joined Gordon Food Service at the same time. We bonded immediately through our passion for food, the industry and family. He always spoke about his wife and children and the fun things they have done or which animal they just got for the farm. He was a great guy and loved his family tremendously. My condolences to his friends and family during this time. Rest in peace bud

Sharing in your sadness as you remember Carl, a gentle person that always had a smile on his face. I had the pleasure to work with Carl on many projects he had in his accounts. He had a passion for food and was always willing to help anyone that crossed his path. He always talked about his lovely wife and beautiful children that he was so proud of. He made people always feel comfortable in his presence. Wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time, I am very sorry for your loss.

My memories of Carl go back to day 1 when Trudee and Paul brought him home from the hospital. Carl, as a little boy was so full of energy and a little mischievous at times but always happy and smiling. He grew up to be an amazing man and father to his children whom he loved with his whole heart and soul. My heart is broken for the whole family who loved him so much. Rest In Peace Carl, love you

I had the opportunity to work alongside Carl at Gordon Food Service. He had a great passion for foodservice and loved the art of BBQ. My wife and I had the pleasure of connecting with him on a trip he earned to Cape Cod two summers ago. Glad to have gotten to know him as he truly had a great passion for people. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
