Born in Santarem, Portugal on April 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Antonio Almeida and Maria Nogueira. He served in the Portuguese Army for six years and came to the United States in 1969. He was a mechanic at Eastwood Garage for 24 years and then worked for his son Lou at Lanco Manufacturing for 24 years. He was a member of the Portuguese Club in Waterbury and enjoyed fishing, boating, soccer and playing pool.
Besides his devoted wife of 59 years, Tony is survived by his son Louis and his wife Jolanta Nogueira of Wolcott. He was predeceased by his three sisters Idalina, Noemia and Adelaide.
