Charlotte B. (Brodowy) Sorbello, 90, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully at her home on September 3, 2025. She was born in Meriden, CT on July 11, 1935, daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Solleck) Brodowy.
Charlotte was a devoted homemaker for much of her life, raising her family on a farm filled with horses, cows, and chickens, where she grew much of her own food and often sold produce at a small farmstand. Once her children were grown, she began a long-term career as a secretary with Connecticut Light & Power, where she worked faithfully for many years before retiring.
Music was one of Charlotte’s greatest joys. Together with her family, she performed at local nursing homes as part of their band, where Charlotte loved to sing for the residents. She would often say with pride that she was “packing up the car and heading out to go jamming with the band.”
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Giovanni “John” Sorbello Jr. and Rudy Markey Jr as well as her son Curtis Markey Sr. She is survived by her children: Corinne Markey and Stevie; Giovanni Sorbello III and Cynise, and son Anthony Sorbello. Charlotte also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Giovanni Sorbello IV and Brett, Antonio Sorbello, David Sorbello, Curtis Markey Jr. and Ashley, and Liza Markey Bragg and Charlie, as well as her great-grandchildren Gage, Petra, Clara, Lucy, and Finley.
Charlotte’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the outstanding team at Hartford Healthcare—especially Jo, Jeff, Karen, and Michelle—as well as to Kelli Sorbello and Carmela Nocera for their loving support and care.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
