

Claire Frances Melinda (Blanchard) Day, 83 of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home. She was the loving wife of Clifton H. Day and just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
Born June 14, 1931 in Seekonk, MA she was the daughter of the late Paul E. and Melinda (Fontaine) Blanchard.
Claire was a member of the Southington Arts and Crafts and was featured as artist of the month. She volunteered at ALTA teaching arts and Crafts. She loved cooking, making Christmas ornaments, jewelry and afghans. She was an avid reader and seamstress.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Clifton P. Day of N. Carolina, Charles E. Day and wife Linda of Plantsville, Cynthia R. and Celia M. Day both of Bristol; three brothers, Paul Blanchard and wife Margaret of Dayton, MD, Arthur Blanchard and wife Margaret of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Roger Blanchard and wife Lucy of Adamstown, MD; two sisters, Lucille Nichols and husband Martin of Rockledge, FL and Violet Hobbs of Harney, MD; five grandchildren, Christine Casner, Jennifer Thompson, Nicholas, Crystal and Shawn Davis; 12 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Jason LaFreniere, a great-grandson Aiden Thompson and two brothers, Norman and George Blanchard.
A service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 6 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
