Constance Mary Shaknaitis, age 80 passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus. She was born in Hartford on January 24, 1944 to the late Zigmund and Mary (Conte) Balcezak.
Connie was employed as a retail manager for most of her career but also worked in banking for Bank of America. She could often be found spending her free time in the kitchen baking various treats for her loved ones. She also enjoyed knitting. Her favorite item to create were small lap blankets made to look like the American flag. She would make them to distribute to local veterans who were very proud of their service. She truly valued the smiles and gratitude this act brought her. Connie was a great cook and was famous for her homemade manicotti, all from scratch! She will be missed and loved by all who knew her.
Connie is survived by her two daughters; Tina (Steven) Capsalors of TN, and Gina Fama of AZ. She is also survived by her three sisters; Linda, Grace and Carol. She was preceded in death by her brothers David and Zigmund as well as her sisters Rosalie and Marie.
A public visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 4-6 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. A prayer service will be held at 6 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to the Southington CT Dog Pound at 69 Lazy Lane Southington, CT 06489.
