March 20, 2022 following a brave, 5 year battle with cancer.
Born January 14, 1953 in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late and beloved,
Arthur and Elaine (Duffy) Fortier.
She was wife to Luigi Guglielmo (her “Babe”) and also leaves behind her two sons,
Jason Scribner of Durham and Ryan Mackenzie of Meriden; her daughter-in-law
Rebekah Devivo-Mackenzie; three grandchildren, Kody, Kaiya and Conner; her
two brothers, Steven Fortier of Hamden and Jeffrey Fortier of Cheshire; two
nieces, Christy Dickman and her husband Eddie of Longmeadow, MA and Alyssa
Zalaski and her husband Mike of Keene, NH; three great-nieces, Harper, Paige and
Elaine (“Lainey”); and great-nephew, Jack. She was predeceased by her brother,
James (“Jay”) Fortier.
“Debi”, “Deb”, Luigi’s “Punkin”, to the many who knew and loved her, enjoyed
being cozy by the fire on a snowy day with an old movie or puzzle, watching the
birds, dining with friends and antiquing. She truly lived for her grandchildren and
her pride for them will most definitely live on. She will always be remembered for
her generous, joyful and kind spirit. She was happiest entertaining and feeding a
houseful; surrounded by laughter, family and friends that easily pass as family,
playing games and listening to good music. She was a pillar of strength and
support to so many; all who could count on being met with an open door and
open arms.
This life will not be the same without her. May her laugh echo in our minds, her
whole-hearted bear hugs warm our souls and her love light our paths, for all of
our days.
A memorial Mass will be held on a date and time yet to be announced. In lieu of
flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor, to the American Lung Association @action.lung,org
