

Dennis L. Ross, 79, of Plantsville passed on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving husband of Dianne (Driscoll) Ross for 59 years.
He was born October 21, 1944 in Greenville, PA, son of the late Alfred and Leota (Stull) Ross.
He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962. He was a skilled hunter and marksman. He leaves behind his childhood friend Andy Groover of Jamestown, PA. Dennis was a veteran of the Vietnam War proudly serving with the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico where his computer career began and where he met his lifelong friend, Harvey Nishi. Following his service, he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio on to Bellefonte, PA and finally to Connecticut. As Director of Information Systems for Ulbrich Steel in North Haven for many years, he enjoyed many friendships, golf outings and social events.
Dennis was a member of the Wallingford Country Club. He was an avid golfer who loved challenges. As a member of the Southington Elks Lodge 1669, Dennis met Ted Davis, his main dart competition and mentor. They became like brothers. They played in weekly dart and setback leagues. He rode his Harley like a pro. Dennis enjoyed building model aircrafts, ships and dollhouses. He was a life member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 and the Southington Elks Lodge 1669. As an active member of the community, Dennis leaves behind many dear friends who will never forget the “fly joke”.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Catherine Mason of Southington; Michael Driscoll of Cossayuna, NY; four grandchildren; Jeremiah Palmisano, Emily Ramos and husband Victor, Alexander and Kasey Mason and their father Glenn; two nephews, Randy Oberle and wife Sandi of Kane, PA and Scott Oberle and wife Sandy of Greenville, PA. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins. Dennis enjoyed family gatherings, cooking sauce, basting the turkey, and spending time with grandkids poolside was a joy. He was predeceased by a daughter Valerie Palmisano, granddaughter Allyson Palmisano and his sister and husband, Shirley and Frank Oberle.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 1-4pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington followed by a memorial service and military honors at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Franciscan Home Care, 267 Finch Ave, Meriden, CT 06451. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
