

Donald was a member of the Calendar House in Southington and loved playing cards with his friends. He worked as a maître d’ at the Union League Café in New Haven and in the past catered for the President of Yale.
Donald is survived by his sister Kathleen Thornton and husband Douglas of Sandy Hook, CT, his brother Jon Cayer and wife Beth of Stanley, VA; his nieces and nephews: Scott Thornton of Portland, CT, Douglas Thornton Jr. of Westfield, MA, Deanna Landau and husband Steve of Sandy Hook, CT, Dwayne Thornton of Reno, NV, Gail Berry and husband Joe of Terryville, CT, Kathleen Cayer and fiancée Charles of Frederick, MD, Jonathan Cayer and wife Judah of San Diego, CA, Norma Lisstro of Plainville, CT, and Anne Marie Lisstro of Newington, CT; his great niece Sienna Guaragno of Sandy Hook, CT; his great nephew Austin Berry of Terryville, CT; as well as many cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Donald is predeceased by his sisters Barbara Padelli and Janice Thornton.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 4pm – 7pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Southington. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required and walkthrough visitation is encouraged.
