He was born May 31, 1944 in Bristol and was the son of the late Emile and Rita (Carrier) Ouellette.
Don was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967 aboard the USS SHASTA (AE-6). He was a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School Class of 1963, the Culinary Institute of America Class of 1972, and the University of New Haven Class of 1974.
Don retired from New Departure Hyatt, a Division of General Motors, after over 25 years of service. He then worked for Ideal Forging and Funk Funeral Home.
He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed spending time in his yard, conversing with his neighbors, and playing cribbage games with his lifelong friend Norm. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Gregg Ouellette and wife Claudia of Southington, Amber Grandetti of Southington and Brent Ouellette and wife Stacey of Moorestown, NJ; six grandchildren, Lorenzo and Luca, Brianna and Gavin Ouellette, and Grayson and Giovanni Grandetti; a brother, Raymond and wife Suzanne of Bristol and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Antonio Grandetti.
His funeral will be held on Friday, August 6th, 10:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
