He was born on November 10, 1933 in Treglia, Province of Caserta, Italy to the late Vincenzo Izzo and Rosa (Sabino) Izzo. He left the family pyrotechnics business in Italy to work in Switzerland. He then immigrated to Canada and then to the United States in search of a better life. He was so proud to become a United States Citizen. He previously resided in Meriden and he then moved to Southington with his wife Vincenza in 2009.
Prior to his retirement in 1999, he was employed by International Silver Company in Wallingford and Napier in Meriden. Emanuele enjoyed gardening. His vegetable garden always bore abundant fruit and his flower garden consisted of the most brilliant colored flowers. He tended to his fruit trees that included fig, peach, pear, prune, cherry, chestnut as well as his grape vines. He had a passion and love of wine making and passed the tradition down to his children.
Emanuele was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed Italian music, singing and most of all dancing. On the weekends, when he wasn’t in the garden, he would be driving his family to the beach to enjoy a day of swimming, sunning and picnicking. Emanuele is survived by his loving children, Vincent Izzo and his wife Robyn of Southington, Joanne Debowsky and her husband Drew of East Hampton, Emanuele Izzo Jr. and his wife Carrolyn of Southington and John Izzo of Meriden, his eight cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Jacqueline, Tanner, Jarrett, Peyton, Emanuele, Jacob and Dominic. He also leaves a sister Carmela Granata and her husband Giovanni of Montreal, Canada, two brothers, Michele Izzo and wife Agnese of Meriden and Pasquale Izzo and wife Carmela of Treglia, Province of Caserta, Italy. He is predeceased by five brothers, Salvatore, Francesco, Giovanni, Michele and Angelo. Michele and Angelo were deceased at a very young age in Italy.
Emanuele lived with Alzheimer's for the past six years. He resided at Mulberry Gardens of Plantsville. He truly enjoyed his time at Mulberry Gardens for the activities, events, outings and most of all the caring and loving staff. He was loved there by everyone.
