
He was born Jan. 25, 1918 in Waterbury, the son of the late Adjutor J. and Anita (Vanasse) Lemieux. He was a resident of Southington for over 65 years. Ernest retired as manager in 1984 from the local lumber and building supply branch of Diamond International Corp after 35 years. He was a member and past president of the Southington Rotary Club and a recipient of the Rotary?s Paul Harris Award. Ernest was also a member of the Elks Lodge and a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church.
Ernest was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army as a Master Sgt in the Army Co. 1636th Engineer Construction Battalion, both the European Asiatic and Pacific theaters of operations.
Besides his wife he is survived by his 3 children, Michele E. Lemieux of Bristol, Nancy P. Lemieux Metzler and her husband William of Morrisville, VT, Paul Lemieux and his wife Carol of Milldale, and two grandchildren, Lily Belle Lemieux Metzler of VT and Lawrence A. Marciano Jr. of CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his 4 brothers, George, Rene, Harvey and Henry, and 4 sisters Rhea, Annette, Anita and Lorraine.
Calling hours will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 11 a.m.
St. Aloysius Church. Burial will be with Military Honors at New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to his memory to the charity of the donor?s choice.
