Florence Lorenzo

Southington - Florence (Fontana) Lorenzo, 85, formerly of Southington, passed away on Thursday September 17, 2009 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut Bradley Campus. She was the wife of the late Angelo Lorenzo. Born September 3, 1924 in Milldale, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Irene (Cavadini) Fontana. Florence retired from New Departure in Bristol after 27 years as an inspector.

She was and avid shopper and collector and also loved her arts and crafts.

She spent much of her time between Charleston, RI and Florida when not in CT.

Florence will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.

She is survived by her four children, Karen Padula and husband Nicholas of Waterbury, Patricia Smeriglio and husband Silvio of Middletown with whom Florence made her home, Richard Lorenzo and wife Jodi of Charleston, RI and Jeffrey Lorenzo and wife Lyn of Southington; her four grandchildren Jason Hunter, Nicholas and Joshua Padula and Jake Lorenzo; a brother James Fontana of Meriden and a sister Nancy Mocadlo of Vernon along with several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend and caregiver Natasha.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 2550 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.
