Fortunato

Born on April 13, 1936 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Mary (Villone) Fortunato.

He had served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was also a mission pilot for The Civil Air Patrol flying out of Brainard Field in Hartford. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed as a computer operator at the UCONN Health Center. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving children, Michael and his wife Christine Fortunato of Wethersfield and Gilbert and his wife Giovanna of Cromwell, MaryJo and her husband Alan Lamas of West Suffield along with 6 cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Sebastian, Savanna, Lorena, Sophie and Carina, his wife for over 30 years Eleanor Fortunato, whom he loved to the end.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 30 at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral home 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church for a mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Thomas Church 99 Bristol St., Southington, Ct. 06489.
