I had the privilege of being a student and colleague of Mr. Manning. He was not only exceptional as a teacher, but as an administrator as well.
I’m grateful Plainville hired him to teach the kids of Plainville. I remember having to make a family shield and found out my name Kegel meant bowling. Not being an artist it made for an easier task to draw a pin and bowling ball.
He was very encouraging as an administrator as well. His approach to the students was at their level which made him well respected.
So sorry for the loss of a great man.

It’s difficult sometimes to put into words the impact that a person has upon your life. I first met Tony nearly fifty years ago. He was my supervisor and mentor during my student teaching experience at Plainville Jr.High and he became a lifelong friend. Tony was such a talented and creative artist who personified the word teacher as he brought energy, enthusiasm and the love of learning to his students and history classroom. My own daughters were fortunate to have had Tony as a teacher and still many years later fondly remember his class and always refer to him as Mr. Manning. In fact they still proudly display their Indian woodcarving that he would award to the student who received the highest score on their history test.
To Sandy,Terry,Tracy and family I extend to you my sincerest condolences on your loss. I feel so fortunate to have had Tony in my life. He shaped my teaching career and I will deeply miss our conversations and visits. I just hope that he knew what he meant to me and he will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

So many times casual conversation turns to our favorite teachers . Mr. Manning was always on my list. He taught us so much more than just ancient history at Plainville Jr. High School. How lucky were we? Very.
Condolences to you all. He is surely watching over you. MaryEllen Fillo

It was my very good fortune as a brand new teacher to know and work with Tony. I had one particularly "challenging" class that Tony also was teaching that year. I also had that class 7-8x each week as I had them for a couple of study halls and homeroom, in addition to the usual 5 classes. There were many times when Tony, knowing and understanding my frustrations and feelings of inadequacy, would appear to cover a study hall or homeroom, quietly waving me away to take a break, have a coffee, or simply sit down. So very sorry to hear of his passing . Sincerest condolences to the family and may God rest his soul. A true gentleman and a scholar! RIP Tony.

I always loved talking with Tony about the history of the Kindelan family. He had so much information and loved sharing it. He was a very special person. Sandy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I know what Tony is doing in heaven right now, he is at the piano with friends and loved ones singing away. Every teacher that worked with Tony learned so much from his guidance, he will definitely be missed by all.

Tony was a great teacher and fun colleague at Plainville Jr. High. He had a great sense of humor. I still have the sketch he did of me as local teacher union president. Good memories and strength to all family members.
