

Born in Waterbury, son of the late Frank and Diana (Norman) Hubeny. He served with pride during WWII as a Navy Seabee with the 16th Battalion, CO D in the islands of the South Pacific. Upon return, Mr. Hubeny worked for Goulds Plumbing and subsequently founded the successful local company, F. J. Hubeny Plumbing and Heating. He was a co-founder of the former Citizens National Bank of Plantsville. Mr. Hubeny was instrumental in several local residential and commercial real estate developments, including Spring Lake Village, Marci Drive residences, Hillview Arms Apts., Rochambeau Mall and The Hub Restaurant.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loved and celebrated offspring, a daughter Diana M. Hubeny-McCall and husband James of Royal Oak, MI, two sons Francis J. Hubeny Jr. and wife Sandy and Jeffrey M. Hubeny and wife Joni all of Wolcott, grandchildren, Stacy Hubeny Gorman and husband James, Derek Hubeny all of Wolcott, Brett McCall and wife Mandy of Brandon, MS, Caitlin McCall of Waterbury,Brendan McCall of Ann Arbor, MI, Megan Hubeny Janeiro and husband Raymond of Waterbury, Kristina Hubeny, Amanda Hubeny and Jason Hubeny all of Wolcott and step- grandchildren Taylor and John Stankus of Wolcott; Great-grandchildren Kylee and James Gorman and Brady McCall.
He will be greatly missed and remembered as a man who worked hard, provided well, danced with grace and enlivened every encounter with a ready joke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 28, 2011 at 11a.m. at St. Aloysius Church 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.
