Gilbert N. Wade

Gilbert N. Wade, age 66, Of Southington passed away unexpectedly at home on September 29th. He was born in Queens, New York, on October 30th, 1956 to the late Charles Neil Wade, and Virginia (Gilbert) Wade. Gil moved to Southington with his mother and stepfather, Lester Harris, and graduated from Southington High School in 1974. He pursued a career in the automotive industry until the late 1990s when he achieved his dream of opening a brick and mortar Locksmith Shop - Southington Security Services. The joy that he received from the time he spent with so many customers at the front counter, made up for the long hours and late nights he dedicated to the business he built. He loved spending time at Lake Winnepesaukee in New Hampshire every year with his sister. As long as he was near the water, he was happy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Diane, daughters Jennifer (Rich) Vauter and Stephanie Wade Granger (Chuck) as well as his son, Wesley Wade (Nina). His beloved sister Pattie Wade (John) also survives him. He was a proud Grampa to his five grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Gunner, Isabella and Jaykob. A cherished uncle, to all his nieces and nephews. Stepbrother to Bob (Cammie) Harris and Linda (Paul) Batick. Calling hours for Gilbert will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. A memorial service for Gilbert will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington, CT 06489.
