Helen (Cominos) Koutsopoulos, 97, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at The Summit at Plantsville. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Koutsopoulos.
Helen was born in July 12,1929 in Athens, Greece, the daughter of the late James and Roxanny Cominos. A gifted singer, Helen was an apprentice opera singer who traveled to New York City every Saturday for lessons. Her talent and dedication provided her with the opportunity to sing at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, a cherished accomplishment in her life.
Helen was devoted to her family and will be lovingly remembered by her son, Paul Koutsopoulos and his wife, Beth, of Vernon; six grandchildren, Kristen, Alison, Lynzie, Nicholas, Christina, and Melissa, nine great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Jackie Koutsopoulos. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and extended family in Greece. She was predeceased by her son, James Koutsopoulos.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 W. Main St., New Britain. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, where Helen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Charles. There will be no calling hours.
The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
