Henry A. Schmidt

He was born in Cheshire on Nov. 25, 1937, the son of the late Ewald and Marguerite Schmidt.

Henry was a gentle spirit, a quiet man who took much pleasure in his family, his friends and his numerous acquaintances.

He graduated from Cheshire High School and attended the UCONN School of Agriculture. He was a US Army Sgt. in the National Guard. He owned and operated Ridgeview Wholesale Florist in Cheshire, and was a retiree of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He was an avid NY Yankees fan.

He is survived by his sisters, Doris S. Platt of Antrim, NH, Ruth S. Reed and husband George M. Reed of Lake Alfred, FL, a brother Daniel R. Schmidt of Southington and his aunt Elsie Berkmoes of Southington as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who all will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law David Platt.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Amberwoods of Farmington for the exceptional care and comfort he received.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Calling hours will be on Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer?s Assoc. of CT, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy. Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
