Irene (Fida) Kozlowski, 86, of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the HOCC at New Britain General. She was the wife of the late John Kozlowski, the love of her life, for 53 years.
Born July 8, 1935, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Fida and Susan (Liptak) Fida Parrelli. She leaves behind her twin brother, Joseph Fida, of Sanford, FL.
She is survived by her children, Debra Bodner and husband Paul of Branford, Robert Kozlowski (her caregiver over the past 2 years) of Southington and Lisa Kozlowski and husband Christopher Jagodzinski of Havertown, PA; four grandchildren, Christopher Bodner and wife Cynthia, Meglin Bodner, Jonathan Bodner and Zachary Jagodzinski. She is also survived by a niece, nephew, and cousins.
Irene worked as a switchboard operator at the Bridgeport Credit Rating Bureau after graduating from Stratford High School. She later worked as a secretary at Avco/Lycoming, Newcomb Spring Corporation, and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. However, her true passion was being a wonderful, caring mother and grandmother, raising her three children in a spotless home and ultimately enjoying time with her four grandchildren. She also enjoyed decorating for every holiday and season and tending her many indoor plants.
Irene was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 25th, from 2-4 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 26th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
