Born on May 24, 1958 in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of Sheila (Hay) and the late Paul C. Booker, formerly of Wolcott.
Jim was a toolmaker and was formerly employed at Hayden Switch and JOMA Inc in Waterbury. He enjoyed fishing and making fishing flies and was the creator of the famous "Champlaiin Jane" Fly. He was an avid genealogist and a member of the Southington Genealogical Society. He was also an accomplished artist and was proficient in wood carving, sketching and painting. If you received a hand carved Santa Claus from Jim, you know his talent was beyond perfection. He was a gentle giant, a big, quiet man who was old fashioned and had very strong family values. Jim's loud and hard laugh is something his family will never forget. Jim gave in death as he did in life, through tissue donation and did this because he loved everyone, especially the little ones.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother Andrew and his wife Michelle Booker of Westfield, MA, three sisters April and her husband Paul MacDonald of Wolcott, Linda Hayes and Holly Booker both of Waterbury; nephews Alex and his wife Sarah MacDonald of Cheshire, Justin Booker of Suffield, Dante, Markel and Ian Clark of Waterbury; nieces Amy Booker, Mardasha Clark of Waterbury, Katherine Booker of Richmond, Virginia and his little angel, Kristen Booker of Westfield, MA; and also leaves his great nephew and great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many other people he touched. His sister April and cousin, Rose were with him all the way during his healing after surgery. One could only wish to have such care because there was no greater love than the tie these three had.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday 11 AM at DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
