James Joseph Sorensen Sr.

He was born September 17, 1941 in New Britain and was the son of the late Joseph Matthew and Mary (Bukowski) Sorensen.

Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Navy from 1959 to 1963. He was a Firefighter for the City of New Britain until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the International Assoc. of Firefighters and loved to hunt.

In addition to his wife he leaves his daughter Lisa DiLorenzo and husband Michael of Southington, James J. Sorensen Jr. and wife Holly of Berlin and stepson Maciek Zuchowski of Bristol; four grandsons, Michael and Joseph DiLorenzo and Deven and Tyler Sorensen and a great-grandson Malcolm DiLorenzo. He was predeceased by his first wife Irene (Rich) Sorensen and a brother, Richard Sorensen Sr.

A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial with military honors will follow. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N.
