Janice M. (LeBlanc) Bedell, 70, of Southington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut – New Britain General, following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Janice was born on May 4, 1955, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, to the late Leo Edward and Corinne M. (Cormier) LeBlanc. She dedicated her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally. Janice worked at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare’s Traurig House, where she was a lead nursing assistant for the residential stroke and brain injury program for 30+ years. She helped patients reclaim their communication, cognitive abilities, and life skills while they transitioned from hospital to home life.
A woman of quiet strength and deep kindness, Janice found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved gardening—often greeting the sunrise with a cup of coffee in hand—spent peaceful hours birdwatching, carried a true passion for helping others and was a lover of all animals. She was a longtime parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church until her illness confined her to home, yet her faith and devotion remained unwavering.
Janice is survived by her beloved daughters, Amanda Bedell and her fiancé Anthony “AJ” Ferreira, and Mikayla Sharp and her husband Perry; her dear sisters, Yvette Lyons and her husband Thomas, and Linda Malaro and her husband Anthony; her niece Tabitha DeSouza and her husband Phil and her nephew Thomas Lyons III and his wife Anne, along with extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington, CT 06489. All are asked to gather directly at the church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held privately with her family.
