Born on August 10, 1950, in Glen Cove, New York, Joann was the daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Sumcizk) Kumorowski. She pursued her passion for caring for others by training as a nurse at Creedmoor State Hospital in New York and later earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Connecticut State University.
Joann devoted her professional life to nursing and healthcare. She was employed by Waterbury Hospital for 39 years, where she earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike. Through her dedication, compassion, and leadership, she rose to the position of Nurse Manager of the Intensive Care Unit before her retirement.
Beyond her career, Joann found great joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured experiences. She was a devoted animal lover, especially fond of cats, and had a deep appreciation for all animals. She also shared a passion for travel with her husband, Frank, exploring several continents and countless countries together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
In addition to her loving husband, Frank, Joann is survived by her son, Francis Pullaro and his wife, Samantha; and her cherished granddaughter, Francesca, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life.
In accordance with her wishes, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
