Born in Meriden, the son of the late John and Mary (McKieran) McDonough, he later moved to Southington.
He worked at JC Penney for 38 years and in his retirement years enjoyed gardening, reading and travel. A private service was held in his memory.
He is survived by his sister, Maryann Horton, and his little dog Molly.
