

John Gulio Simone, 89, of Southington, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 26, 2024. John was born on March 5, 1935, in Southington, a son of the late Dominic and Vincenza (Testa) Simone. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion (Morse) Simone of 43 yrs, and partner of the late Pat DeAngelis of 20 yrs.
John proudly served in the United States Army. He was a tool & die maker, part owner of Lori Engineering and owner of Jon-Mar Ltd. John was a pillar of the Southington community, always involved and dedicating his life to the many residents here. He was a volunteer firefighter and Captain of Co.#3, he was the first coach for the Southington midget football league coaching the Chargers for 10 yrs., a Board Member of the YMCA, and also a member of UNICO and Jaycees. He also was a co-inventor of the Little Skipper snowmobile, which was the first miniature snowmobile. He will always be remembered for his contagious smile that would light up the room, his sense of humor, and especially for his loving, caring and sweet ways of how he treated everyone he knew. He was an amazing father who was supportive of his family, and proud of their achievements. He loved them wholeheartedly and unconditionally.
John will be dearly missed by his entire family; his daughters Tracie Simone of Southington, Shelly Card (Ken) of Silver Springs, Fla., Lisa Simone (Scott) of Plantsville, Debra Simone Cyr (Joe) of Southington, 6 grandchildren, Melanie Mancarella (Jason), Megan O'Toole (Eric), Jennifer Hanson (Jay), Shannon DiStasio (Jimmy), Theresa Card, and Cameron Rhodes, 8 great grandchildren, Abigail, Brianna, Louie, Emerson, Carter, Finley, Paisley, and Brooks, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, wife and partner, he is predeceased by his brother Bobby Simone and sister Marie Atwater.

A memorial mass for John will be held on Tuesday, June 4th at 11 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St. Plantsville. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, June 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington.
