John W. Welch

Dec. 20, 2009 at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of the late Anna (Johnson) Welch.

Born April 18, 1923 in Wallingford, son of the late John S. and Mabel (Nelson) Welch.

He had retired in 1983 from Pratt & Whitney and farmed in Southington for most of his life. Mr. Welch was a veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post #72. He loved to play cards especially setback, he loved gardening. He was an avid baseball fan of the San Francisco Giants.

He is survived by a son John W. Welch Jr. and wife Donna of Southington, his 2 grandchildren, Mitchell and Molly, a sister Elizabeth Leigh and husband David of Wallingford, a niece Susan Tomai, a nephew Arthur Leigh and a brother-in-law Joseph E.B. Johnson.

The family would like to thank the Staff at the Southington Care Center for all their kindness and support.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m.
