A cook of exceptional talent, Joe took no greater pleasure than bringing joy to family and friends through food. His recipe-free Italian dishes were the highlight of every family gathering.
For Joe, food was an expression of love. His greatest love, though, was his wife and partner of 58 years, Josephine. A nearly inseparable pair, Joe and Josie raised two strong and loving daughters, suffered two well-intentioned and dedicated sons-in-law, and were blessed with four remarkable grandchildren.
A native of North Haven, Joe served in Germany as an Army sergeant during the Vietnam War. With his natural problem solving skills and analytical mind, Joe worked for decades as a field engineer for SNET. It was in Durham that Joe and Josie created a warm and loving home. Family was everything to Joe and he strove to provide opportunities to his children that he did not have.
Joe will be missed by scores of family and friends. His mischievous humor, gentle kindness, and deep love will live on through all those who crossed his path.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Alice (Glenn) and Joseph A. Goulett. He is survived by his wife Josephine (Nardi), his daughters Kristine Bardman (Erik) of Los Altos, CA, and Sandra Michelman (Paul) of Cambridge, MA, and four grandchildren, Kyle Bardman, Benjamin Bardman, Georgia Michelman, and Leigh Ann Bardman.
