Joseph J. Mongillo

Born October 26, 1938 in Southington he was the son of the late John and Irene (Mazzera) Mongillo.

Joe was employed by CH Nickerson, Torrington as a comptroller for many years and was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.

Joe and Nancy loved their daily walks together, whether it was around Southington or to the library and was always followed by breakfast at McDonalds. They loved to travel to Vermont especially at the Von Trapp Family Lodge. But there was nothing more important to him then his family especial taking part in raising his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he leaves his two sons, Jay Mongillo and wife Linda of Plantsville and Michael Mongillo of Southington; two grandchildren, Austin and Emily Mongillo and a sister-in-law Frances Mastrianni of Southington. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Irene Sadowski, Rita Fallati and Rose Howard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 21st at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. An hour of visitation will be prior to the Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
