

Born in the Bronx, NY on February 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Beatrice (Bonadanno) Rapisarda. During WWII he worked at the Brooklyn Navy yard on military equipment. He moved to Wolcott in 1956 and became active in the Wolcott Democratic Party during the 60?s. He was a retired mechanic from United Auto Sales in Waterbury.
Joe was a freelance photographer many times for the Waterbury Republican most notably he covered the JFK visit to Waterbury?s Elton Hotel. He enjoyed trap shooting at Bristol Fish and Game with his family and was an avid CB radio operator. One of his favorite hobbies was building and flying remote airplanes.
Besides his devoted wife of 70 years he is survived by a daughter Sandra and her husband Joseph Vige of Naugatuck, a son Gary Rapisarda and Christine Mard of Waterbury, a sister Minna Hebert of Washington Depot, CT, three grandchildren Robert DiZinno of North Haven, Steven DiZinno of Oakville, Dianna DiZinno of Bethlehem, CT , five great grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas, Dominic and Brandon DiZinno and Amanda Famiglietti. He was predeceased by two brothers Salvatore and Gaetano ?Jim? Rapisarda.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM.
