

Joseph E. Triano Jr., 68, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of 41 years to Sarah (Hanley) Triano. Joseph was born in Waterbury on August 8, 1955 and was the son of the late Joseph E. Sr. and Mary Concetta (Ciccio) Triano. He graduated from CCSU where he received his B.A. and retired from the North American Philips Company of Wallingford. He was also a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church. Joseph was a true outdoorsman. You could always find him on the Farmington River fishing for trout. Usually Sarah would be right there with him reading a book watching his endeavors on the river. When he was not fishing, he and Sarah would visit the old Civil War battlegrounds including Gettysburg, and Washington D.C. At times, they would venture off to the shore at Misquamicut in Rhode Island or Mystic, CT. He also loved to read especially subjects on history and biography. Besides his wife, Joseph is survived by his niece, Lisa Ellison and her husband Chris and their children of Burlington and by his three nephews, David Smith of South Windsor, Thomas Smith and his daughter Rebecca Smith of Plantsville and Steven Smith and his wife Nicole and their children, Andrew J. and Alana Smith of Southington. He is also survived by his furry companion Acer, who will miss getting those special treats at the dining room table. Joseph was pre-deceased by his sister, Sandra Smith of Southington. A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mary Our Queen Church, 245 Savage St. Plantsville, CT 06479. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489.
