

Margaret was born on May 11, 1927. She lived her entire life in Plantsville and Southington with her late husband Guss G. Nevelos, and their four children.
At 40 years old, after her children were grown, Margaret got her driver's license and there was no stopping her. Margaret was involved in many facets of her community. She was a member of Southington's Democratic Town Committee beginning in the 1970's and for many years after that, serving on the Events Committee, Nominating Committee and Executive Board. She was twice recognized by the DTC as a Distinguished Democrat and also received the Ella T. Grasso Women's Leadership Award in 2013. She also worked at the Connecticut State Capitol as a State Legislative Assistant to Rep. Arthur DellaVecchia and Rep. James Clyne. She also was employed as a ward secretary at Bradley Memorial Hospital for many years.
Margaret was a founding officer and president of the St. Thomas Ladies Guild. She served on the Library Board and was the Chairperson from 1991-1997 and was also Secretary of the Board of Police Commissioners.
Despite all of her extracurricular activities, however, Margaret was probably best known for her cake decorating. She was a true artist as she made and decorated hundreds of cakes over the years. Her talents were appreciated by a wide range of family and friends, and friends of friends.
Margaret is survived by her 4 children, Richard (and his wife Ann), Mark "Dean" (and his wife Robin), Lisa Arena and Karen Jones (and her husband Tom).
She is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
Her funeral will begin at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, located at 211 North Main Street, Southington, on Friday October 31, 2025, with a visitation from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11AM at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
