Marie "Marge" Markiewicz

Marie “Marge” Markiewicz, 84, of Plantsville died peacefully at home Monday, February 24, 2014 with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Edward Markiewicz Sr. Marie and Edward celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 20, 2014 with family and friends.

Born on May 8, 1929 in Waterbury, CT she was the daughter of the late Nunzio and Antoinette (Donia) Gugliotti.

Marie was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church, a member of the Lady’s Guild and retired from General Electric after 25 years of employment. Marie was an avid gardener. She loved sharing her Oxheart tomato seedlings with friends and family, as well as meticulously caring for her perennial and herb gardens. Marie loved watching and feeding the birds that visited her window daily.

In addition to her husband, Marie leaves her four children, Edward Markiewicz Jr. of Portland, OR, Bethann Welch of Barrington, NH, Suzanne Gwiazdowski of Delanson, NY and Paula Yetman of Taunton, MA; two sisters, Patricia Pallotti and Sandra Waycott, both of Plantsville. She leaves her beloved grandchildren, Nathan and Graham Markiewicz, Mason and Kelly Welch, Michelle Woods, and Michael and Nicholas Gwiazdowski. She also leaves a great grandson Anthony Woods. She was predeceased by her brother Nunzio Gugliotti.

The Funeral will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 9:15 am from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-6 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the VNA Health Care Hospice, 300 Queen St., Southington, CT 06489 or to the Rev. John P. Blanchfield Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o of St. Aloysius Church.
