Marion A. Cordova, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at her home. She was a woman of creativity, devotion, and deep love for family, friends, and the beauty of the world around her. Born into an immigrant family, Marion carried with her the rich heritage of her parents—her father from Ireland and her mother from the Åland Islands of Finland. She grew up alongside her three siblings, Joan, John, and Annette Tangney, forming bonds that would shape her life and her lifelong sense of responsibility to those she loved.
At just 17 years old, Marion met the love of her life, Gabriel “Gabe” Cordova, in her neighborhood. Their love story became the foundation of a remarkable 66-year marriage, filled with partnership, laughter, and adventure, until Gabe’s passing on May 24, 2023. Together, Marion and Gabe traveled the world with friends and family—sightseeing, skiing, exploring, and adventuring—creating a rich life filled with joy and connection. They cultivated friendships across the globe and had a rare gift for bringing people together, lighting up rooms with their shared love of music, dance, travel, and celebration. Marion was a gifted and deeply creative soul. She attended an arts high school and later the Fashion Institute of Technology, nurturing a lifelong passion for art and design. She expressed her talents through seam stressing, interior design, gardening, and a keen appreciation for art, antiques, and sculpture. With her eye and her hands, she made the world around her more beautiful. Family was always Marion’s highest priority. She devoted herself to raising her two children, Aili and Gabriel, and later became a steadfast caregiver to her sister Joan and her brother, supporting them through years of illness with compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication. Marion was deeply admired and cherished by her grandchildren—Stephanie, Nicholas, and Mikey—who delighted in her humor, wisdom, and boundless creativity. When they were young, she filled their days with simple magic: trips to the park, breakfast feasts served in bed, and patient afternoons spent sketching their favorite childhood toys and treasured objects simply to make them smile. Marion shared her talents generously, teaching them through love, presence, and example. Her bond with her granddaughter Stephanie was especially close. Marion was almost like a mother figure to her—offering steady guidance, unconditional support, and deep understanding. Even as Stephanie grew into adulthood, Marion continued to mentor and encourage her, standing beside her with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering belief in her journey. She also adored her beloved mini dachshunds, Chili and Frankie, who returned that devotion in full measure. They were her constant companions, rarely far from her side, and a source of daily joy and comfort.
Marion A. Cordova will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, artistic eye, devotion to family, and the warmth with which she welcomed others into her life. Her legacy lives on in the beauty she created, the people she brought together, and the generations who carry her love, laughter, and creativity forward.
