

Born on August 3, 1928, in Melizzano, Italy, Michelina was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Consiglia Maria (Zarrelli) Calandra. She was the first of her family to immigrate to the United States, later sponsoring her brothers and sisters so they could join her. Michelina made her home in Southington, where she devoted her life to her family and her faith.
A longtime parishioner of the former St. Thomas Church in Southington, Michelina lived a life rooted in devotion and love. She found her greatest joy in cooking and caring for her family, tending to her garden, and sharing Italian traditions with all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving son, Tommy D’Errico and his wife Maria of Avon; her cherished grandchildren, Julia, Christina, and David D’Errico; two brothers, Filiberto and Egidio Calandra; and her sister, Emilia DeCicco, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Mario, Michelina was predeceased by three brothers, Michele, Carlo, and Giuseppe Calandra, and a sister, Maria Zarrelli.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington. Michelina will be laid to rest beside her late husband in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington.
