Peter W. Stewart, 79, of Southington, passed away unexpectedly in his home Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was the loving husband of Betty (Loayza) Stewart.
Peter was born on July 30, 1941 in Bristol to the late Wesley and Lena (Henne) Stewart. He graduated from Bristol, High School in 1959.
He spent most of his career dedicated to the automotive/mechanic industry. He was most recently employed at Darrell’s Auto Sales & Services in Wallingford before retiring.
Peter loved to read and watch documentaries as he had a very curious mind. He also loved to travel to explore and experience new locations. He loved food and was always the first to try something new, especially the local fare of wherever he visited.
Peter was also a devout follower of the Jehovah’s Witness faith and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Plainville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Lisa Suter and her husband Todd of Greenville, SC, Jeremiah Stewart and his wife Maggie of Southington and Jonathan Stewart of Southington, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Due to the current pandemic and limited seating, walk through visitation is advised. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be held at a later date private to the family. I loved working with Peter in the door to door ministry. He was a trooper, always funny and kind to people. A hard working and faithful companion. I will miss him. We look forward to his resurrection in the Paradise with endless good health and life!
