He was born to Samuel J. and Geneva D. Foss on May 21, 1934 eight minutes after his twin sister Phyllis.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Maureen Q. Foss, his twin sister, Phyllis Nellie Godfrey, his sister Beverly Hichborn and his son Steven J. Foss.
He leaves behind 4 of his 5 children and their spouses; Patricia & Jim Gibson of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Philip Foss and Liva Ferraz of Destin, Fla, Sheila Foss Swanson and Craig Swanson of New Britain, daughter in law Kim Foss of Thomaston, CT and Elizabeth and Greg Godston of Southington.
After Philip graduated from Newington High, he joined the Army National Guard and served his time until he was honorably discharged in 1960. He worked at Viking Electric and went on to earn his Master Electrician license. Foss Electric was his successful business until he retired.
Philip enjoyed the newest gadgets and adventure. He loved traveling with his young family in a popup camper. On one of the first trips to Sturbridge Village Campground we were surprised to find a fresh coat of snow on the ground! Square Pond, Maine, Italy, and Cape Cod, MA were also favorite destinations. As the children grew Phil and Maureen traveled to Alaska and Ireland.
Phil has 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren that will miss him very much.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Church 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial will follow at South End Cemetery. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
