

In the early morning hours of March 19, 2015, God decided it was time for Philip Joseph Hayes, born on September 20, 1921 to be reunited with the love of his life, his beautiful wife Rita, with whom he shared 66 years of Marriage and had predeceased him 2 years earlier.
Philip enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Corporal. He served his country for 5 years, mostly in the South Pacific.
Philip and Rita (nee Manware) were married on September 15, 1947. They went on to have 3 sons, Philip and his wife Gail, Bill of Hamden and Dennis whom he lived with and had the honor of caring for him and becoming best friends. Rounding out the household , his faithful companions Lulu and Clyde. Avery special grand daughter Jennifer and her husband Sean Geel. Two grandsons Bill and Hunter and another granddaughter Amber, along with four great grandsons. Two wonderful friends Susan and Nancy who helped care for him and always treated him with love and respect.
Phil would like to thank the entire staff at UConn Health Center, from doctors to the nurses, especially the staff in Cardiology and on Med Four and also a good friend Joann in Government relations. A very big and loving thank you from your friend “Dirty Phil” and as Phil would say, “Nice Day”.
