

He was born in Southington on Jan. 1, 1925, the son of the late Dominic and Immaculata (Alia) Serafino.
Phil was a graduate of Lincoln Lewis High School Class of 1944. He served with the US Army during WW II. Phil was a well-known master barber in Southington for 60 years owning the Tip Top Barber Shop retiring eleven years ago. He was a Parishioner of St. Dominic Church.
In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his children, Philip D. Serafino Jr. and wife Barbara of Wolcott, Barbara Niski and husband Raymond of Southington, Angela Sepko of Southington and Mary Serafino of Bristol; a sister Mary Morelli of Southington, six grandchildren, Lauren Serafino, Mary Coughlin and husband Patrick, Philip C. Serafino, Michael Brothwell, Curtis and Connor Steen, a great-granddaughter Aubrey Serafina Coughlin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers, Natale, Carmen, James, Paul, George, Peter and Rocco.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m.
