Polly Daboll Urso

Following her graduation from Portland High School in 1955, Polly continued her studies and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working for many years in convalescent homes in Bristol, Plainville, Southington, Old Saybrook and Melbourne, Florida.

Polly had many passions including knitting, crocheting and expressing her love through baking. She shared these passions with family and friends crocheting each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren blankets. She is remembered for spending hours in the kitchen making special occasion desserts, her famous cheesecake, and Christmas cookies that everyone looked forward to, especially her husband.

Polly and her late husband Jim shared 59 years together in Southington, Old Saybrook, Melbourne, Florida, and Canton before his passing in 2018. She leaves her son James Urso Jr. and wife Lynne of Shrewsbury, MA, her daughter Charlene Plourde and husband Doug of Avon, five grandchildren, five beautiful great-grandchildren and her beloved cat Pollyanna.

Polly is also survived by her brother-in-law Louis Urso and wife Nancy of Southington and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother George Daboll and his wife Clara of Portland and her sister-in-law Antoinette Noury and her husband Norman of New Britain.

The family would like to extend an immense amount of gratitude to Avon Health Center for welcoming her into their care as we navigated her last five months of life. They gave her a safe caring home where she bonded with staff and her roommate Sharon who provided many laughs and companionship when she needed it most. Thank you to the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse hospice staff and their volunteers. They were a guiding light at the end and their dedication and compassion was unwavering.
