Born April 30, 1943 in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Bruseau) Dereskevich.
Ray graduated from Crosby High School in Waterbury and Providence College in Providence, RI. He served with the U.S. Army reserve for 10 years. He had had a long time career with Liberty Mutual for over 30 years, then worked at Metlife Insurance until retirement. Ray was an avid golfer with his team in Naugatuck.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he leaves his daughter Rebecca Derek of Southington. He was predeceased by a son, Raymond Francis Derek, a sister, Arlene Dereskevich, and a brother in law, Edmund Ostrowski.
