Raymond Francis “Red” Evans, 92, of Plantsville, passed away at his home on November 12, 2025. Born in Waterbury, CT on June 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Raymond Joseph and Mary Margaret (Keegan) Evans.
Red was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1952. After graduation, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He later worked for many years with Connecticut Light and Power as a cable splitter and lineman, a career he took great pride in.
A lifelong member of the Waterbury Ancient Order of Hibernians, Red was deeply involved in his community, always lending a hand at events and fundraisers. He was also a proud member and treasurer for many years of the IBEW Local 420. His dedication and good humor made him a beloved friend and colleague to many.
Red was an avid sports fan and athlete. He loved playing basketball—both during his service years and on Sunday nights as an adult—and enjoyed time on the golf course. In high school, he played for the Sacred Heart Basketball and Baseball teams, both of which won the State Championship in that same year. He never missed a Red Sox, Boston Celtics, or UConn Women’s Basketball game. Above all, he took great joy in supporting his grandchildren, faithfully attending their sporting events and celebrating their accomplishments.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Joan (Fenn) Evans; his loving daughters Laurie Stevens and her husband Joseph, Joan Nakano and her husband Peter, Andrea Evans, and Sandra DiClementi and her husband Peter. Red also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Jarod Stevens (Christina), Brigid Rolfes (Michael Sr.), Daniel DiClementi Sr. (Terri), Brandon DiClementi (Caroline), and Alexander Nakano (Abbey), as well as his adored great-grandchildren Joseph, Rocco, Alexa, Michael Jr., Calia, Lila, and Daniel Jr.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
