with his loving family around him and holding him on Sunday June 1, 2008.
Born in Waterbury on June 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Nicola and Concetta (Datillio) Rossi. Ray was a Korean War veteran serving in the US Army and was an operating engineer for union local 478.
He was the father of three loving daughters, Moira Patricia Rek and her husband David of Harwinton, Diane Lynne Ridnert and her husband Carl of Marion and Colleen Elizabeth Rossi all of Southington; two dear sons Raymond W. Rossi , Brendan Christopher Rossi and his third "adopted" son Gary Mayo all of Southington.
"Sir Lancelot" as he was lovingly called by his family due to his penchant for rescuing damsels in distress and others who shall remain nameless.
He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and liked nothing better than walking through the woods with his beloved golden retriever "Abby"
Ray had greenhouses where he raised vegetables and flowers that he shared with family and friends and was one of a rare breed, "an upright and honest man".
He also leaves his dear grandsons Brandon and Derrick Rek of Harwinton and Benjamin Rossi of Southington, seven brothers and sisters, Dorothy Jenkins of Waterbury, Judith Mooney of Hollywood, FL, Rita DeSantis of Middlebury, Richard Rossi and Gloria Tedesco both of Watertown, Lucille Houseknecth of Thomaston and Nicholas Rossi of FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Dolores Marino and brothers Henry and Robert Rossi.
Our lives will never be the same without him. Rest in peace our darling father and husband, your grieving family.
